NORTH AMERICA CIVIC PLATFORM
North America Civic Platform (NACP) is a loose umbrella unincorporated association serving as a hub for consultation and collaboration for civic, cultural, and service organizations around the U.S. and Canada dedicated to promoting community service, education, and interfaith dialogue. NACP’s participant organizations are founded by participants in the Hizmet Movement. Hizmet participants come from diverse backgrounds and are inspired by the life and works of Fethullah Gulen, a Muslim scholar renowned for his decades-long commitment to interfaith dialogue, education, and altruism. Hizmet participants bring these ideas to life by promoting philanthropy for serving humanity, investing in education for cultivating virtuous individuals, and promoting intercultural and interfaith dialogue for peaceful coexistence. Hizmet Movement participants have started their first initiatives in North America during the 1990s. Institutional activities have focused on culture, education, interfaith and intercultural dialogue, and humanitarian relief while some spiritual and cultural activities have been organized as unincorporated associations.
Platforms have been formed in locations where there is more than one organization to facilitate sharing experiences and best practices, to ease collaboration, and to discuss issues that concern Hizmet participants locally or generally.
